About
Jade's bad breakup isolation is interrupted when their best friend insists they get some air on a hike with Black Girls Trekkin.
For too long, the assumption has been that Black people don’t do things outside - hike, swim, camp, kayak, and so on. The reality is that for many Black people, access to outdoor activities wasn’t always readily available. In some areas, they still aren’t. When given the opportunity to go outside, we go outside.
There is a historically fucked up narrative that helps explain why the stereotype exists in the first place. Check out “Heritage, Tourism, and Race: The Other Side of Leisure” by Antoinette T. Jackson to learn more.
